horrors across borders reading project

I've had a reading goal bouncing around in my head for a while now, and I think it's finally time to commit to it. My bucket list project is to read at least one horror novel from every country I can. Horror is such a fascinating reflection of the places and cultures it comes from. Every country has its own folklore, superstitions, history, and fears, and I'm curious to see how those things shape the stories people tell. I have no idea how long this challenge will take (probably years), but that's part of the fun. Along the way, I'll keep track of what I read, share my thoughts, and hopefully discover a lot of authors I never would have found otherwise.

A quick rule i am establishing: there are many, many books out there where the story takes place in a different spot/setting than where the writer is actually from. For expample, the novel victorian psycho, which i am reading right now, has a spanish author by the name of virginia fieto, yet the story takes place in england. i will consider the book as a book from spain. i’ll go by author nationality here, just to make things consistent.

Keep a look out for my next blog entry, which will discuss Tender is the Flesh by Augustina Bazterrica (Argentina).

This blog won't just be about that challenge, though. Horror has been my favorite genre for as long as I can remember, so I'll also be writing about horror novels, films, short stories, and whatever else catches my attention. Whether it's a brand-new release, a forgotten paperback from the '80s, an obscure foreign film, or a classic everyone else has already seen, this is where I'll share my thoughts. If you're a horror fan, I hope you'll follow along as I work my way around the world—one nightmare at a time.
